What the work is actually like
The firm is two partners and the people who work with them, in one office in Nicosia. That is the whole of it, and it decides the shape of the job more than anything else on this page. There is no department to be assigned to and no partner you never meet. Work comes from Andreas Kleanthous or Klitos Platis directly, and it goes back to them directly.
- You will see whole matters, not slices of them. A file that runs from the first letter to enforcement is run by the same one or two people throughout. The trade is that nothing is anonymous: your drafting goes out under the firm's name, and you will be asked why you took the position you took.
- The subject matter is property, construction and litigation first. Contract and company work, debt recovery, succession and personal injury after that. The areas of practice page sets out what actually comes through the door, and the writing index is a fair sample of the level the firm works at, because the same people write it.
- Everything is checked against the source. The statements of law on this site are read from the consolidated text on cylaw before they are published, and the register of sources lists every provision the site relies on. The same habit is expected on a file. "I think it is six years" is not an answer here.
- The drafting has to hold up in whichever language it is read in. Court work is in Greek. A large part of the client base does not read Greek, and the same document often has to work for both.
Who we are interested in
Advocates admitted in Cyprus, and those completing pupillage who want litigation and property work rather than a rotation. Applications from people qualified elsewhere are read, and the honest position is that the Cyprus admission route has to be dealt with before the job can be, so tell us where you are with it.
We also take applications for legal support and administration. Say which it is: the two are read by different people.

What to include
Send with the first email: your curriculum vitae, where you are with admission in Cyprus, and when you could start. A covering letter of a few paragraphs, in either language, saying which of the firm's areas interests you and why.
If you have it: one piece of your own drafting, redacted so that no client is identifiable. A pleading, an opinion or a letter before action tells us more in two pages than a curriculum vitae does in four. Do not send anything that is still confidential to a current or former employer or client.
We read applications as they arrive and reply to every one, whether or not there is a position open at the time. If there is nothing suitable now, we say so rather than leave it unanswered.
